PAVEL OVCHINNIKOV

Russian jazz trombone player, composer, conductor, arranger, educator.

Born in 1974 (July, 27) in former USSR.

Graduate Stavropol college of arts as classical trombonist, learned jazz trombone and improvisation at Rostov-on-Don State Conservatory and later graduate Moscow State Institute of Arts.

Winner of all-russian jazz competition for young musicians (1994)

Played in all famous Russian big bands:

Kim Nazaretov big band (1993)

George Garanian big band  (2000)

“Chicago” musical (Russian version, Moscow)

Oleg Loundstrem State jazz orchestra (2005)

Igor Butman Moscow Jazz Orchestra (now)

With the Moscow jazz orchestra touring: Birdland Jazz Club, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, JVC jazz festival, Umbria Jazz (Italy), Jazz A Juan (France), Wigan Jazz Festival (England), Blue Note Beijing(China), Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center for performing arts, Chicago symphony center, UNESCO (Paris), International Jazz Day 2018 (Saint Petersburg) and many other places.

As part of the orchestra had opportunity to perform with such a great musicians: Chick Corea, George Benson, Natalie Cole, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Randy Brecker, Mike Stern, Wynton Marsalis, Delfeayo Marsalis, Conrad Herwig, Till Brenner, Billy Cobham, Dave Weckle and many others.

Teaching jazz trombone and leading students big band at Maimonides academy and State college of wind art.
